Membership in FSHRMPS is open to professionals whose job responsibilities include healthcare risk management or patient safety or who have demonstrated a significant interest in the field of health care risk management or patient safety and who agree to support the mission, vision, and code of professional responsibility of the Society. The FSHRMPS has three categories of membership:
Individuals who are actively involved in healthcare risk management, patient safety or related functions. Active Members may serve as directors and hold office, and shall have the right to vote.
Full-time students enrolled in accredited universities and community colleges who are not employed full-time or students participating in administrative residencies in accredited Universities or Community Colleges. A copy of the individual’s student I.D. is required with the membership application. Student Membership shall be limited to one year from initial membership enrollment. Student Members may not vote or hold elected office in the Society but may serve on Committees.
Individuals who have been a Member of the Society in good standing for at least ten (10) years and are retired from employment in healthcare risk management or patient safety. Emeritus Members must be in good standing at the time of retirement and must request Emeritus Membership in writing. Emeritus Members may not vote or hold an elected office in the Society, but may serve on Committees.
